Rainbow Breeder Moyn

Budgerigar, the name in cage bird for colors. A long-tailed bird is the most popular to the bird's lover. The sweet-looking birds originally came from Australia. For their attractive colors and appearance, these species are popular for cage birds keeper. As a rainbow budgerigar breeder in Bangladesh, I love to breed various mutations.

There are lots of mutations available for budgies and among them, Rainbow is a combination of few mutations and looks gorgeous. As a rainbow breeder in Bangladesh, I also love to breed Rainbow in my Aviary.

Moyn's Aviary:

​This is Md Moinuddin, a rainbow budgerigar breeder in Bangladesh. Starting the journey in 2019, I have bred lots of budgie with various mutations. Though Moyn is a residential structural engineer by profession, he has a deep passion for cage birds from his boyhood. 

​How did I Start Moyn's Aviary?

While first time, I bought one pair of budgie as per my elder son's request. It was from a bird's shop near me. I was taking care of the birds myself in my home. After a few days, I decided to make a budgie set up in my office. The kitchen room of my office was unused. 

I started collecting some budgies with various mutations and cages. Most of the Budgerigar birds I collected from various places of Bangladesh like the Tongi birds market usually sit every Sunday. Among my collection spangle, classic, lutino, albino, pied mutation were remarkable.

From the starting, I was in love with rainbow budgies. I collected some baby rainbow for future breeding from old Dhaka, Mirpur, and Gazipur. Among my rainbow collection Cobalt Vio, Sky CW, FBG mutations were remarkable. I planned to become a rainbow budgerigar breeder in Bangladesh. You can learn about Budgerigar Mutation in this Group (Website).

Who Inspired me Most?

Among many, I would like to mention the well-known name in Bangladesh Sultan Babu. He is the man who is representing Bangladesh and working hard to teach people about Budgerigar keeping. The Bangladeshi people came to know about budgerigar birds through him. He is still a helpful dedicated person for budgerigar keeper in Bangladesh.

 

Fortunately, he visited my aviary and provided me with lots of information for the development of my budgie keeping and budgie set up. I am very much thankful to him along with Iftakhar Shawon.

What problem did I face during breeding budgie?

When started the first time, there was a lot of problem in breeding budgie. Understanding the cock and hen of budgie, age, and most importantly mutation. Through my research on google, youtube, and Facebook, I learned so many things. On Facebook, I found few important groups about budgie like Budgerigar Society of Bangladesh (Website), Birds Lover 2, Avian Community of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Birds Help Group.

While searching on YouTube, the Birds Lover 2 channel helps me lots about proper caring of the budgie. I watched all the videos related to my problem and took note of everything. In the meantime, I found the General Secretary of BSB, Iftakhar Shawon. He helped me in reducing my problem and visited Moyn’s Aviary.

With the consultation with him and decided to make some strong and standard cages for my whole setup. He also helped me in making the setup. As per his instruction, I started my journey again.

Except for him, I also contract with other experts Mahmuduzzaman Romel, Aronno Sourav, Mirza Ferdoush Galib, Shagor Ahmed. They gave me significant solutions for my aviary problem. After few days the problem reduced and I started enjoying my budgie keeping.

What were my Problems?

Among my problems important were birds getting sick, unhealthy birds, and the death of budgie babies. There was the aviary set up problem too. In that critical situation, I found some expert budgie breeders in Bangladesh and they helped me a lot.

How I Recovered the Problem?

Though I was facing the problem, continued and started learning. Continuously communicated with expert budgie breeder in Bangladesh. I also posted in various Facebook group about my problem. I got lots of help from the Facebook group and expert buddies breeder in Bangladesh. And eventually, my problems started reducing and my dream of being a rainbow budgerigar breeder in Bangladesh is being true. 

What types of seed mix do I use for budgie?

First time I used customize seed mix and using cina, kawon, millet (White, Black, Yellow, Red), sunflower seed, hemp seed, canary, etc. First, I cleaned the seeds then dried in sun for min three days, and again cleaned. 

There are a couple of online seed mix suppliers in Bangladesh. I have taken services from the following supplier and they are excellent in quality. You can collect budgies seed mix from Mizu Bird Feed, SS Birds Dakshin Khan, Seedland Bangladesh.

How do I take care of budgie?

Normally, I provide seed mix daily with steel seem pot. I use multiple pots depending on the number of birds. Every day change the water feeder and clean then regularly. Every week I use hot water (mix with normal water)to clean the water feeder at least once. 

All of my birds are provided with commercial egg food (Sometimes mix with some vegetables like carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, beetroot, broccoli, etc) Twice per week. 

What extra steps for the new chick of a budgie? 

Alhamdulillah! whenever there is a new chick with any pair I provide egg food twice daily. Makes sure adequate food supply. I also check the baby regularly if there is an issue. 

How I made the budgie Set up?

I have the indoor setup within my flat. My budgie set up is in the kitchen. In my office, the kitchen is unused and took this advantage to set my aviary. If you are interested in my setup check here for details about my budgie set up.

 

What about Budgerigar Mutations?

Mutation of budgerigar birds is really important to any budgerigar breeder. From the beginning of my budgerigar journey, I tried to learn something about budgerigar mutations. To produce a quality rainbow understanding the budgie mutation is important. Obonil Abid helped me in understanding budgerigar mutations. 

What is my next plan? 

Right now Moyn's Aviary has 8 breeding cages due to a shortage of space. But I also want to produce a quality rainbow. In the future, I have the planning of making a natural budgie set up in the building roof. There will be adequate natural light and no artificial light will require in the daytime.
