What to Feed a Baby Budgie?

What is soft food for budgie?

Except for a well-proportioned seed mix, we provide budgie with some boiled vegetables and pulse associated with a boiled egg. Vegetables may be raw and pulse may be at least 12 hour soaked with fresh water. Everything is sliced with a small piece. Usually, they are soft and healthy for birds. Food made this way is called soft food.

Is soft food and egg food the same?

Almost the same, in soft food we use boiled egg or commercial egg food. So, they are the same in the world. In soft food, sometimes you may not use eggs. If you use only commercial egg food like Versele laga, kiki, whitemolen, cede, etc. it's a different case. Which I do when a baby star hatches to self-feed.

How to make soft food?

There are so many items you can add to your soft food. A wide list of vegetables, fruit, and pulse with eggs. Personally, I use commercial egg food like Versalaga, kiki, cede. Different types of vegetables like the list below. While the first time, I used different types of pulse soaked with water. For all my budgies, I use soft food twice a week and for hatching babies twice daily.

How to serve soft food to baby budgie?

Usually, I make slices of vegetables and mix them with commercial egg food or sometimes boiled eggs. I use some hot water to make them soft and after cooling down I serve them to the budgie. I keep them in the birdcage for 2-3 hours.

How many ingredients for soft food?

Depending on the number of items the soft food quality depends. Try using as many items as possible. Before making the food, know the food list for budgies. Food not good for budgie must be avoided.

How to preserve soft foods?

For raw vegetables, preserve the like you do for yourself. For the boiled egg, make it instantly. Use an airtight jar to keep commercial egg food. If you want to use boiled vegetables and pulse, you can keep them in a deep freezer in a polybag or can. Take adequate time to normalize the food before use.

How Long can you keep soft food in a budgie cage?

If you keep the soft food in the cage for a long time, it will start making fungus. Resulting in illness to your bird. Try to keep 2-3 hours in the cage and be careful in hot weather. In high-temperature food can produce fungus earlier.

EndNote:

If you don't have enough time to make soft food, you can use commercial egg food. But you need hot water to make the commercial egg food ready for serving. Provide a well-balanced food for budgie with a perfect seed mix And it will help to produce the best quality birds in your Aviary.

Balanced food is essential for the best quality birds. Every breeder uses their own style of food for birds and ensures quality birds.
